The Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Supports Communitas Recreation Bootcamp
Communitas is proud to be among 23 local nonprofit organizations selected to receive funding from The Savings Bank Charitable Foundation during its 28th annual distribution. The Foundation selects award recipients based on several factors, including each organization’s intended use of the funds and commitment to community impact. Funded organizations serve areas including Wakefield, Lynnfield, Andover, North Reading, and Methuen — and Communitas is honored to be among them.

The award, which will help offset the cost of the Recreation Department’s popular Bootcamp program, was presented to Lauren Buttiglieri, Recreation Director, and Nina Collins, Recreation Program Specialist. Communitas is grateful for the support of community partners like The Savings Bank and their recognition of the impactful work being done at Communitas.
More than just a workout!
Bootcamp is more than just a workout — it’s a wellness experience rooted in community, movement, and motivation. Offered in four seasonal 8-week sessions, Bootcamp welcomes 16 participants per session, each joined by a buddy — a family member, friend, or staff — to move together, encourage each other, and learn exercises they can carry into everyday life.
Designed for individuals aged 16 and older (with participants typically ranging from their early 20s to late 50s), Bootcamp focuses on building cardiovascular endurance, strength, agility, and balance — all in a supportive and adaptable environment. Sessions are powered by upbeat music, friendly faces, and exercises that meet each person where they are.
The true goal? To build lasting, healthy habits and foster a sense of self-confidence, connection, and joy through movement. To find out more about Communitas Recreation programs, visit the Communitas Rec Desk page.
Exercise is for everyone!
Exercise is for everyone — and access to inclusive, supportive physical activity can be life-changing. The health benefits of regular exercise are far-reaching, from reducing the risk of chronic disease to improving daily function and boosting mental well-being. Communitas Bootcamp helps participants gain the tools to lead longer, healthier, and more independent lives — while having fun doing it.
Thanks to the generosity of The Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, Communitas will use the awarded funds to offset participation costs and continue to make this essential wellness program accessible to all.
